An ezumbrella.com account was set to expire. The current broker was unfamiliar with the account and didn’t realize that it was expiring. In addition, the broker came to us for help with the lead umbrella program that they could not place after approaching a number of markets. We had a very short time frame to achieve aggressive targets regarding pricing and coverages. We approached a number of our wholesale markets and not only did we get the coverage placed, but we saved the client additional premium and procured coverage enhancements.

An insured in the residential real estate business came to us because the market would not accommodate his request to increase limits from $25 Million to $100 Million for 16 additional locations he had recently acquired. He wanted to raise his limit without breaking the bank. In short order, we provided a $100 Million umbrella liability policy that accommodated the additional locations and we did it with a minimal increase of $10,000.

A broker came to us scrambling to find coverage for one of their biggest clients. With only a week until the renewal, the broker requested a full marketing effort and needed a $300 M umbrella quote. We achieved a quote in the marketplace for under $110,000 and helped the broker keep his most important client.

A client came to us with a fatality claim. We processed the claim immediately and had a defense attorney meet with the client to provide expert advice even though the case was not in suit. A claims meeting with the insured, broker, defense counsel, risk consultant was orchestrated to address all issues/concerns. Notification to the umbrella carrier was made immediately and thanks to our experienced account executive the insured invoked coverage for the services of a Media Consultant. All parties stayed on top of the claim and worked well together to resolve this within the primary policy. The insured was relieved when this claim was resolved and appreciated the service provided by us.

A former client called to determine whether or not certain construction activity would be covered under an umbrella policy. Though we were not the broker on the account, we discussed how coverage under various policies may differ. When the account went to market, Preferred took the submission and helped secure a $9,000 savings in annual premium. A fitness & training provider, including training of professional athletes, needed to consolidate their GL/PL coverage into one policy that included multiple locations, sexual misconduct with higher limits, international coverage and a triple aggregate. We were able to supply all of that with one carrier. In addition the agent had a difficult time finding coverage for a variety of specific exposures. We were able to offer coverage for all of the risks, providing an Excess HNOA above the standard market $1M limit, a combined policy, and a placement with an E&S Market within 24 hours. The agent was thrilled that we could help solve his problems and cover each detailed risk.

A broker approached us for a Property Manager E&O. The competing broker had used two policies for the insured which ironically resulted in a coverage gap for the insured. Within one day, we helped the broker secure terms for all services on one form with coverage that both previous policies did not offer, including Contingent BI/PD and a Fair Housing Discrimination coverage of $100,000.

The insured provided services as a residential and commercial real estate agent, residential appraiser, and property manager. Shortly after binding, the insured experienced a claim denial for a property management claim based on an error in their insurance application. The current coverage was canceled. The broker asked for our help. We remarketed the risk and within two days secured coverage that included all of the insured’s services as well as offering prior acts and almost identical pricing. Additionally, we convinced the original carrier to waive their 25% premium and cancel their policy on the same effective date!

An insured with real estate and hospitality exposures including warehouses, retail space, office and delivery vehicles had his operations covered by two distinct umbrella policies with two distinct carriers, both at a $25 M limit. To save money and to achieve coverage consistency for his organization, the insured wanted to cover all his operations under a single policy and to increase his limit significantly. We quoted the combined operations in one High Limit Umbrella Liability Policy with a $100 M limit. The client enjoyed a savings on his rate and the peace of mind that he had consistent coverage terms for all of his operations.
